Partnerships That Move Restoration Forward

Twende works through partnerships because ecosystem restoration sits across communities, government, science, finance, enterprise and international cooperation. We welcome relationships that move restoration from isolated activities to durable programmes, with public institutions, research organisations, development partners, diplomatic and international cooperation actors, foundations, companies, investors and community organisations where there is a clear shared purpose.

The organisations below are institutions Twende is actively engaging on Kenya’s coast and across Africa’s blue carbon frontier. Unless otherwise noted, these are Prospective Partners or Engagement Under Development. We do not present a relationship as confirmed, funded or endorsed until it is documented. Where a partnership is formalised, Twende structures it as a long-term commitment: typically a three-to-five-year memorandum of understanding for programme partnerships, and a 30-year forest adoption now being formalised with the Kenya Forest Service, because durable restoration outcomes need durable relationships.

why partner with us

Built on Real Partnerships, Not Just Good Intentions

Discuss a Partnership
  • Community-led delivery, with local groups and Community Forest Associations stewarding every site
  • Grounded in real data: survival rates, hectares and cohort outcomes tracked and reported
  • Built on Kenya's own frameworks: KFS Adopt-a-Forest, KALRO's coastal research and the National Blue Carbon Strategy
  • Pan-African mandate, Kenya-rooted delivery
  • Long-term by design: programme partnerships run three to five years, our forest adoption with KFS thirty

Benefits

Why Blue Carbon Ecosystems Matter

Restoring mangrove, seagrass and coastal wetland ecosystems delivers benefits that reach well beyond carbon:

  • Coastal protection from storm surge and erosion
  • Carbon sequestration many times faster than tropical forests
  • Nursery habitat that sustains local fisheries
  • Community income through nursery, training and enterprise work
