African Union Commission

Ambassador Frederic Gateretse Ngoga is Senior Advisor for International Partnerships, PAPS at the African Union Commission, where he provides strategic counsel on continental security architecture, conflict prevention, and regional cooperation mechanisms. Born in Burundi, he is one of Africa's most respected peace and security diplomats.

Ambassador Ngoga holds a Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and an Executive Masters in Managing Peace and Security in Africa. He attended the University of Pennsylvania and Suffolk University, and has spent over 15 years within the AU system — including eight years as Head of the Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Division, and earlier service in the AU peacekeeping mission AMISOM in Somalia.

He serves on the boards of multiple multilateral initiatives including the UNDP Preventing and Responding to Violent Extremism in Africa project, the UNDP Africa Borderlands Centre, and the International Commission on Inclusive Peace. He is a board member of the Med-or Foundation and was appointed President of the Commission on Sponsorship and Marketing of the Burundi Rugby Federation in 2024.

At the NGO Summit 2026, Ambassador Ngoga brings the AU's continental lens on peacebuilding, cross-border development, and the strategic role of civil society in Africa's Agenda 2063 — providing NGOs with a bridge to continental policy frameworks and regional cooperation opportunities.
