Ms. Mutave Mutemi

Global Inclusive Communications Leader and Storyteller

Sightsavers

Ms. Mutave Mutemi is a seasoned communications strategist, advocate, and storyteller who serves as Global Stories Producer for Gender and Climate Change at Sightsavers, one of the world's leading international organisations working to prevent blindness and promote the rights of people with disabilities. Based in Kenya, she manages ethical storytelling across 33+ countries in Africa and Asia.

With over 13 years of experience in global communications, public relations, media relations, and international development, Mutave has shaped narratives that influence policy, mobilise resources, and amplify underrepresented voices across Africa on the international development stage. She is a co-founder of Colour My World Kenya, a social enterprise focused on inclusion and creative expression.

She brings rare expertise in intersecting disability rights, gender equity, and climate justice through compelling human-centred storytelling. Her work at Sightsavers demonstrates how strategic communications can be a development tool in its own right — building public will, donor confidence, and policy momentum for some of the world's most overlooked communities.

At the NGO Summit 2026, Mutave brings the power of communications strategy and ethical storytelling to NGO leaders — offering frameworks for how organisations can use narrative, media, and advocacy to strengthen their public presence, attract funding, and drive meaningful policy change.
